Väinölä community hall

Rent Väinölä for events.

During its over one-hundred-year history, the Väinölä community hall has hosted countless weddings, funerals, and evening gatherings, as well as dancing, plays, and movie screenings. The first owner of the hall was sexton Erikson, whose widow sold the building to the Taipalsaari Youth Association in 1901 after his death. Over the years, the building changed owners several times and underwent many renovations and expansions

Information

In the 1930s, Väinölä was owned by the Taipalsaari Home Guard. During the mobilization of 1939, the men of Taipalsaari left from the Home Guard hall to go to war. During the Continuation War, Väinölä was used by the armed forces. When the Home Guards were disbanded after the war, the building became the property of the Taipalsaari municipality.

In the late 1970s, Väinölä, which had fallen into disrepair, was renovated and expanded into a multifunctional space. The most recent major renovation of Väinölä took place in the early 2000s, when the interior was restored and the building received a terrace on the Lake Saimaa side. In the old Väinölä community hall, weddings are still danced, sports are played, and events are held by the Youth Association and other local organizations.
